This pilot flew Spitfire fighter aircraft for the RCAF / RAF (60% of all RCAF personnel served in RAF units at some point) in WWII, this record has come from the database of Mr. Halliday, a Canadian military historian.
This Pilot's entry: Bob's cause of death was flying accident. He was returning to England 50 feet above the sea level from a mission sweep in France flying in a tight formation with other Spitfire aircraft. Bob's craft ran out of fuel and a Spitfire P7843 collided into the rear of Bob's plane.. Both pilots and craft were lost to the Chanel below. No recovery of airmen or crafts was noted.
